Our premiere Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaign broke records and we haven’t slowed down since. Lead Embedded System Engineer

Bird Buddy is growing rapidly and increasing its team from 50 to 70 members. We are seeking a Lead Embedded System Engineer that will drive the development of both existing and new products with a strong focus on firmware. This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of innovative new products, pushing the boundaries of wildlife technology and making a lasting impact in a growing field.
Key Responsibilities?
- Lead the design, development, and testing of embedded systems, with a focus on firmware, while providing guidance and setting technical direction to ensure optimal performance and seamless hardware integration.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure optimal firmware performance and seamless hardware integration.
- Oversee the development and improvement of existing products, while also contributing to the creation of new, innovative products.
- Identify and resolve potential issues in both firmware and hardware during the development process.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in embedded systems to enhance product performance and innovation.
Key Qualifications?
- Extensive experience in embedded systems engineering, focusing on firmware development (ideally using the ESP32 platform), FreeRTOS, and embedded Linux.
- Strong understanding of AWS IoT services and integrating IoT devices into cloud environments.
- Solid expertise in electronic hardware with experience in hardware-software integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across hardware and software teams.
- Experience working in fast-paced, tech environments, with the ability to adapt quickly and drive innovation.

Customer Engagement Lead

As the Team Lead, you will oversee daily operations, manage a cross-functional team, and drive key initiatives to achieve company goals. You’ll collaborate closely with product development, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure our smart bird feeders remain the go-to solution for bird enthusiasts worldwide.
This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys blending leadership with hands-on contributions, and can work closely with a team primarily based in Slovenia, with the flexibility to be in Ljubljana two days per week.
Key Responsibilities?
- Inspire, mentor, and manage a growing team, fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Elevate CX by designing proactive support measures and optimising user experience.
- Contribute to product development strategies, including feature prioritisation and user feedback loops.
- Represent the team in leadership meetings, providing updates and insights.
Key Qualifications?

- 3–5 years of team leadership in a tech or startup environment, with exposure to e-commerce or hardware/software development.
